Dietary Manager Jobs in Iowa
A Dietary Manager is a key figure in the nutrition industry, responsible for managing food service operations within healthcare institutions, schools, and other organizations. Their primary duties include planning meals, ensuring the nutritional adequacy of meals served, supervising food preparation and delivery, managing food and labor costs, and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal health regulations. They are also responsible for hiring, training, and supervising culinary and dietary staff, as well as for ensuring cleanliness and safety in the kitchen.
The Dietary Manager should possess strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, along with a comprehensive knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards. They should also be proficient in diet therapy and nutrition support. Certification as a Dietary Manager and/or Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) is typically required, as is a Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field. Before becoming a Dietary Manager, a person might have roles such as Dietetic Technician, Food Service Supervisor, or Nutritionist.
