Scope: The Program Manager position at Wayne Metro has responsibilities centered on project management, coordination, and implementation for various nutrition-based programs, including SNAP-ED, Meet Up Eat Up, SFSP, At-Risk (After School meals) CACFP, and Empowered Pantry.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and manage project plans, including budget oversight, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet deadlines and stakeholder requirements.
  • Partner with the Whole Family team, Site Managers, Assistant Director of Health and Nutrition, Nutrition Educators, and SFSP sponsor agencies to manage and execute nutrition programs effectively.
  • Represent Wayne Metro on nutrition-focused committees within the organization and in the community to support program goals.
  • Maintain essential records, particularly for CACFP and SFSP programs.
    Ensure invoices and receipts are up-to-date for program-related purchases and manage purchase requisitions.
  • Oversee food service programs to ensure they adhere to USDA guidelines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with food service vendors to uphold food quality.
  • Occasionally transport food items to different locations as necessary.
    Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards work, clients, partners, and colleagues.
  • Uphold Wayne Metros policies and procedures in daily tasks and responsibilities.
  • Participate in staff training and development activities to maintain and enhance skills relevant to the role.

Additional Duties

Engage in departmental meetings and perform related duties as assigned by the organization. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual skilled in project management, communication, and cross-departmental collaboration. The Program Manager is expected to drive success across multiple nutrition programs, ensuring compliance, quality, and positive client experiences.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Schools/Professional: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk, sit, see, talk and hear, and use hands to manipulate. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb steps, stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The employee is required to supervise students, requiring the employee to match walking speed that matches the student and may at times require the ability to run to safeguard students. The employee must occasionally lift (up to 50 pounds), carry, and move students. Employee must occasionally move equipment and/or supplies. The job is performed for the most part in a school setting with occasional outside weather conditions. The noise level is that of a typical school setting.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in nutrition, food service, public health, nutrition education or related field.
  • Experience in USDA Programs (Preferred)
  • Ability to cooperate successfully as a member of a team.

Minimum Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of basic internet applications and programs including Google technology and Microsoft Office Word and Excel. The ability to learn and utilize the necessary programs for this position.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
  • Good interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to professional appearance, tact, punctuality, and dependability.
  • Ability to provide services for those persons facing economic, social, health, age, and educational barriers.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment (as deemed necessary).
  • Perform work in a manner that upholds Wayne Metro policies and procedures.

Licensing and Other Requirements:

  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
  • Child Care Licensing background check will be conducted.

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to various sites.

Work Hours: Work to be scheduled Monday through Friday with specific hours to be determined by program needs.
