Responsibilities

Position Summary
Provides support of dietetic needs to patients under supervision of the dietitian.

Essential Functions
• Performs nutrition screening according to Clinical Nutrition Services policies and procedures.
• Obtains, evaluates and utilizes diet history information for planning and documentation of nutritional care. Instructs patient and/or
significant other on modified diets. Communicates with healthcare team members to coordinate patients’ nutritional care.
• Ensures product safety through proper training and quality control.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions
• Participates in clinical Performance Improvement and focus studies as assigned. Provides nutrition education and in-services to
patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Selects and reviews educational materials on a regular basis with dietitians.
• Participates in healthcare team rounds.
• Represents Orlando Health through health fairs and outside community events.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit through knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR). (DTR credential may be validated online with Commission on Dietetic
    Registration.)

Licensure/Certification

  • Bachelors: Must maintain 50 continuing education units in a five-year period.
  • Associates: Must maintain DTR credential.

Experience

  • One (1) year healthcare experience required.
