Dietitian/Food Manager - Full-time

The Dietitian designs and implements therapeutic nutritional care plans for patients, based on physicians diagnosis, utilizing general dietetic standards and regulations. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.

Hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; Monday - Friday

Pay range: $69,000 - $70,000 annually; based upon experience

Essential Functions
Minimum Job Requirements

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in the nutritional aspects of patient care by: sharing specialized knowledge with others on the medical team, participating appropriately in patient rounds and conferences, recording in medical records, and assessing the nutritional status of patients, instructing patients, recording diet histories, interpreting and integrating therapeutic principles.
• Monitors and documents patient progress and consults with physicians as needed. Makes appropriate notation of food and drug interaction in the patient medical record.
• Educates and provides guidance to staff, patients, and families regarding diet and food plans.
• Develops and utilizes comprehensive inventory control procedures. Purchases supplemental food products and enteral products as required to meet the needs of the patients. Ensures stock level of nutrition related supplies is maintained at an adequate level at all times.
• Performs quality and infection prevention monitoring related to patient nutrition care in accordance with Food Code Book and established critical control points.
• Routinely inspects the dietary area and practices for compliance with current applicable regulations and standards.
• Administers and advises dietary operations to ensure menus comply with prescribed nutritional plans.
• Maintain current diet manual for therapeutic diets that have been approved jointly by the dietitian and medical staff.
• May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
• Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
• Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.

Minimum Education & Experience

• Two years directly related experience in hospital setting preferred.
• Bachelors degree in dietetics, nutritional sciences, clinical nutrition, public health nutrition, or a related area required.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation

• Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration required.
• Must be licensed as a Registered Dietitian as applicable per state requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of current patient diet, food and nutrition research, and safe food handling requirement.
• Demonstrates appropriate application of age specific standards, policies procedures and guidelines in assessing nutrition status based on patient ages.

• Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.

Physical Requirements over the course of a shift

• A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time
• Both gross and precise motor functions
• Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs
• Possible exposure to bodily fluids
• Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care
• Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment
• Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard
