Your Role:

The Technical Consultant will work with strategic accounts to position Elanco as the partner of choice by delivering exceptional technical expertise, market leading product solutions, scientifically sound research studies, and value beyond product including consulting, analytics, diagnostics, and market access support.

Your Responsibilities:

Sales and Marketing Support

• Work closely with strategic accounts and serve as an active member of account teams
• Identify and position opportunities for customers to use Elanco products
• Actively participate in account planning and incorporate Elancos value strategy
• Implement Elancos value strategy at the customer level

Customer and Technical Leadership

• Technical leader for Elanco Beef Business Unit strategic technical platforms
• Train and coach Elanco personnel on disease, products, and industry practices
• Build relationships with and influence external customers, consultants, and academics
• Identify avenues to deliver value beyond product to customers and Elanco
• Maintain good standing with and influence of key industry organizations

Research and Innovation

• Develop long term research strategy focused on serving strategic accounts
• Prioritize and execute research aligned with business needs of strategic accounts and Elanco
• Conduct research utilizing Elanco products and programs
• Ensure publication of research studies in scientific meetings and peer reviewed journals
• Identify and facilitate research efforts in conjunction with Elanco R&D
• Advise Elanco and key stakeholders of innovation opportunities

Business Leadership

• Effectively communicate within technical team and account teams
• Identify business opportunities and threats for customers and Elanco
• Influence long range strategy and product positioning
• Identify external talent for technical and other roles within Elanco

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications):

• Education: DVM or PhD in animal science or related scientific discipline or MS with 10 of years industry, academic, or government experience.
• Candidate must have an expertise in technical consultancy, with special emphasis on addressing customer concerns or needs.
• Candidate must have a thorough understanding of the US beef food chain and commercial beef production.

What will give you the competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

• Knowledge of animal health industry (emphasis on food animal production) economics and drivers of profitability.
• Excellent communication (written and oral) and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment.

Elanco currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from $116,300.00 to $193,800 depending partly on the successful candidates qualifications, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending partly on company and individual performance). Additionally, Elanco offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees that includes a company-matching 401(k); vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities). Of course, the compensation is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
